Progress is going very well at Mayford Green. We attended another site meeting last Thursday and were pleased and surprised to see the whole shape of the new school in place. We had discussions about the installation of ICT equipment, soft play and sensory rooms and the new hydrotherapy pool. We also had a meeting with the intenior designer to confirm colours of carpets, floor surfacing, blinds, etc. Watch this space soon for samples!

At the last site meeting Sue Stephens, Anne Clinton and Jack Wells were assured that the construction of the school is still on course for a July completion and handover. During the meeting we discovered that all was well in terms of cost, environmental care and health and safety. Having stressed to Willmott Dixon, the contractor, the necessity of using fixtures and fittings which are robust and safe for our students, we were shown examples of window openers which are operated by turning a removeable handle and especially strong toilet cubicles!
Because the July completion is being confirmed with such confidence, the school now has to make plans for the transition to the new site in July. On 10th October we held the first meeting of the New School Steering Group which has representatives from all stakeholders. This group will generate ideas which will then be considered by staff and governors in order to facilitate a smooth transition.
